Holding a highly demanded certification is a great way to enhance your credential, especially if you are planning to move on to another employer.  Getting the education and maintaining the cerification can get quite expensive unless your employer is will to pay the bill.

That makes it even more important to spend some time to research various options available for your career track and choose the the right certification program.

Take a look at some of the most credible and highly demanded certification of 2015.

1. ITIL V3 Certification

ITIL v3 is the third version of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library, a globally recognized collection of best practices for managing information technology (IT).

The ITIL v3 Foundation was first developed by England's government to standardize IT management. Since it was first introduced in the 1980s, ITIL sets guidelines on best practices, covering a range of topics from availability and capacity management to application and IT operations management.

Since July 2013, ITIL has been owned by AXELOS Ltd, a joint venture between HM Cabinet Office and Capita Plc. Axelos licenses organisations to use the ITIL intellectual property, accredits licensed Examination Institutes, and manages updates to the framework.

There are more than a million IT professionals with ITIL V3 certification today.  The test pass rate typically hovers over 90%, making it one of the easiest certification to attain - well, at least relative terms.

2. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)

If you have noticed, Microsoft has brought back the MCSE a few years ago, and it now stands for "Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert".  The old program with the same initials meant "Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer".

Three are currently 9 certification track under the MCSE umbrella.

3. Project Management Professional (PMP)

Administered by the Project Management Institute, the PMP certification is one of the most highly regarded certification program for project manager in the U.S.  The popularity of the program has been growing rapidly growing globally as well.

The certification essentially focus on the material contained in PMBOK, covering initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing projects.

There is only one test to attain the certification, but this 4-hour test is very challenging for the most.  The certification also requires 35 hours of PMP-related training and either 7,500 hours of project management experience without a bachelor's degree or 4,500 hours with a degree.

Having PMP certification definitely prove that one has a good knowledge and understanding of project management.

There are about 640,000 PMPs in the world as of 2014.

4. Cisco CCDP & CCNP

There are two high level certification credential by Cisco: CCDP (Cisco Cerified Design Professional) and CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).

The CCNP certification shows a senior professional's networking expertise. The certification process requires several exams requiring expert level knowledge of implementing Cisco's network equipment with different primary focus such as routers, switches, security, voice and wireless.

CCDP certification, on the other hand, is for senior network design engineers, senior analysts, and principal systems engineers, who discuss, design, and create advanced addressing and routing, security, data center, and IP multicast multi-layered enterprise architectures.

The demand for certified Cisco professionals won't go down in a foreseeable future.

5. VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

VCP is VMware's most-successful and longest-running certificate. This entry-level certification requires the applicant to take an official VMware education course, either online or in-person.

The product of specialization within the VMware VCP certifications, VCP-DCV certifies that professionals have the knowledge to install, configure, manage and scale out VMware vSphere environments.

If you are looking to specialize further, they can take advantage of the vSphere version designation, VCP5-DCV, or they can take it to the next step with the VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) certifications.

6. Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP)
